Palo Verde Boat Tour Culture & Nature Experience

(0 review)

Discover the authentic heart of Guanacaste with this unique cultural and nature experience by Explora Guanacaste, combining wildlife, traditions, and local heritage in one unforgettable journey.

Your adventure begins in the rural community of Bolsón, at Rancho Los Coyotes, where you’ll experience a side of Costa Rica that few visitors get to see. Here, you’ll witness the traditional work of local sand extractors along the Río Tempisque, where artisans continue to collect sand using time-honored methods. Watch as they use oxen, wooden carts, and metal boats to transport materials along the river an authentic glimpse into a disappearing way of life.

Next, you’ll embark on a relaxing boat tour of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes through the wetlands of the Tempisque River, part of the larger ecosystem connected to Parque Nacional Palo Verde. This is one of the best areas in Costa Rica for wildlife observation, where you may encounter crocodiles, howler monkeys, iguanas, and a wide variety of resident and migratory birds in their natural habitat.

After your river adventure, enjoy a delicious traditional lunch prepared over a wood-fired stove, offering authentic local flavors and a true taste of Guanacaste cuisine.

To complete the experience, you’ll visit artisans from Guaitil, known for preserving the ancient Chorotega pottery tradition. During a live demonstration, you’ll learn how clay is transformed into beautiful handcrafted pieces, from shaping to decoration, keeping ancestral techniques alive.

This tour is perfect for travelers seeking a deeper connection with Costa Rica blending nature, culture, and tradition into a meaningful and memorable experience.
